Brisa is a Consultant on Race and Gender, she coordinates regional policy monitoring and report production, as well as advocacy, research, and human rights defense.
She is a lawyer with a master’s degree in State Theory and Constitutional Law from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), where she was a CNPq fellow. Researcher with the Ladino-Amefricanos e Afrodiaspóricos Direito em Pretuguês Group. She specializes in Criminal Law and Criminology and holds a Bachelor of Laws from the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), where she conducted research on custody hearings and the incarceration of Black women.
Brisa served as advocacy and research coordinator at the Marielle Franco Institute, where she led strategic litigation and advocacy efforts in the Marielle Franco and Anderson Gomes case, as well as on political violence, the protection of women human rights defenders, and police violence. She is also a member of the Legal Network for Drug Policy Reform and the International Advocacy Network of the
Institute for Development and Human Rights. She is co-organizer and author of the book Rosas da Resistência: Trajectories and Lessons Learned by Unelected Black Women.
